On Sunday, December 13th 2015, all of our students, parents and staff celebrated International Day with our annual International Fair, which took place at the campus. The International Fair is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the cultural diversity amongst our students and the wider community.
The day began with an opening ceremony, which featured a colourful Parade of Nations. We are delighted to say that we had 64 countries from across the globe represented. Two students from each of the represented countries paraded on-stage bearing their flags, as their fellow international students cheered on from the general assembly.
Throughout the day, students visited different tables to ‘travel across the globe’. As they toured each country, they enjoyed the opportunity to learn about special traditions and different customs, sampled delicious, traditional food, and dressed in either National Dress or in clothing in the colours of their country’s flag.
Also in December, students from ACS MHS Orchestra performed Coldplay's 'The Scientist' at the Middle School Assembly. The ensemble meet weekly after school on Tuesdays to develop their instrumental and ensemble skills. The students also performed at the 'Express Yourself' Dance & Music Event.
ACS Doha celebrated an historic victory this week, winning the Qatar Foundation League Under 19 final! For our first squad of senior players in its first season to become the best school football team in Doha is a major achievement. Well done to our students and to Coach Chris Quinn, seen in the attached photo being honoured in the traditional way by the team. Next stop Dubai for the school's first overseas football tournament in February. Congratulations on a fine performance this season!
