MUN at EGham
ACS Egham invited students to put the world to rights at Model United Nations conference
ACS Egham recently hosted a Model United Nations (MUN) conference for over 100 students from five schools in Surrey, Greater London and Sussex, to give them the platform to showcase their passion for global issues and diplomacy as budding change-makers. The conference was attended by students from Bullers Wood School, Oriel High School, ACS Egham, ACS Cobham and ACS Hillingdon
Every right creates a bright future for every child. These rights help children develop a unique, strong and beautiful identity. It is so inspiring to see the school encourage this process through opportunities such as the MUN conference, which give our students the opportunity to think, to understand, to imagine and to be the change that they want to see.
Throughout the day, students broke into committees to address particular issues facing the world, with topics including the regulation of artificial intelligence, misinformation and disinformation, and the prohibition of chemical weapons.
The day also featured a fast-paced crisis simulation, where students were set the challenge of responding to an unexpected terrorism-threat across the world without planning; testing their critical thinking, problem solving and team working skills.
Events like the MUN allow students to truly test their analytical and collaborative skills, while empowering them to think as global citizens and the leaders of tomorrow. I am immensely proud of all of the students who participated; they demonstrated hard work, dedication, and commitment to making a positive impact on the world stage.
