An electrifying performance

The students recently stepped back to the 1950s to perform the hit musical, Grease, to an audience who laughed, danced and sang along to the musical’s classics, Greased Lightning’, You’re The One That I Want and Summer Nights.
Grease is a childhood memory and favourite for many; a beautiful collaboration of theatre and music brought to life by the students who have shown great dedication and have worked incredibly hard over the last few months. Each student has grown in many ways and we have seen ACS's vision and values shine throughout this process. We’re looking forward to next year’s production already, especially as the school’s Performing Arts department grows.
Almost sixty students from Grades Five to Grade Ten were involved in every aspect of the production – from lighting to sound, backstage, band and cast. Teachers supported each of the students backstage with sound and lighting and parents helped with hair and make up and ensuring students took to the stage on time.
Playing Danny Zuko was very different than my normal personality, so it was challenging at first, but then I got the hang of it. The other students playing the T-birds and Pink Ladies really settled into their roles. We had a great time on and off stage.
I am so proud of my backstage crew, who worked so hard and diligently to create a perfect show, even when there were last-minute changes. The cast were very respectful of when I needed to ask them for help to make room for the sets and they were also amazing at bringing the show together with their exciting enthusiasm. The show was very fun to do and helped me understand the organisational skills and leadership skills required to be a stage manager. I am very proud of the show Grease and so thankful for this wonderful experience.
