A Night at the West End
This semester we embarked on a brand-new first of its kind partnership with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
This semester, we were delighted to embark on a brand-new first of its kind partnership with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO). The partnership enhances our arts education provision by giving us and our partner school students exclusive access to world-class musical and production experiences. Students will have the opportunity to participate in virtual and in-person performances, lectures, and workshops hosted by the RPO’s professional musicians and leading artists from around the UK.
The first of these performances took place on 11th December at G Live in Guildford. The musical production 'A Night at the West End’ gave students from nine of our partner schools and all three of our UK campuses the opportunity to play, sing and perform West End classics, including ‘Food Glorious Food’ and ‘Just Can’t Wait to be King’. The event was a culmination of many rehearsals with the RPO and Performing Perfectly, a professional coaching service that helped our students hone their performance skills ahead of the evening.
It has been inspiring to see the keen enthusiasm and musical talent of so many local students being placed centre stage at tonight’s A Night at the West End performance. This event kicks off a year-long programme of initiatives, where ACS students and our partner schools will benefit from the expertise of the world renowned RPO. We are committed to our ongoing process of collaboration which serves to enrich the education of our wider partner communities and ourselves.
‘A Night at the West End’ is the first of many collaborations to come out of our unique year-long partnership with the RPO. The event also celebrates our exciting new Arts Pathway programme, which launches next year and will engage talented students in the creative arts. We’re excited to see what comes next!
I think what ACS partnerships has achieved is fantastic. Being able to pull together so many schools is just a great experience for everyone. Especially with it being with the RPO it allows all the musicians to come together and work with those we admire. It is a once in a lifetime experience to play my guitar alongside and part of the RPO. This will be an experience I will never forget, and it will inspire me for my future.
