Over the summer the IB published its Grade 12 'exam' results on the 6th July to over 150,000 students worldwide.
We would like to extend well-deserved congratulations to all of our ACS International School students on their results. The class of 2020 worked extremely hard and, throughout the past few turbulent months, have shown nothing but ingenuity, resilience and dedication to their studies and their community.
This was an unusual and particularly challenging year for Diploma (DP) students with the International Baccalaureate cancelling this year’s spring examinations in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, like other awarding bodies in the UK and around the world. However, this year’s DP qualifications are not based solely on teacher-predicted grades (like A levels and GCSE awards), but rather on externally-marked coursework that represents students’ demonstrated academic achievement.
This led to some confusion and anxiety for a number of students over the summer and our University Counsellors worked round the clock to ensure that students interests were protected.
Universities were contacted and the EURs (enquiry upon results) were lodged for remarking. The good news upon return to school is that a good number of students received increases in certain areas, meaning their choice of university was secured.
Highlights of amended results Include:
ACS Cobham Average score increased to 35 and the pass rate increased to 98%
ACS Egham Pass rate increased to 100% and the number of students achieving 38+ increased to 32%
ACS Hillingdon Average score increased to 36, the number of students achieving 38+ increased to 40% and their highest score increased to a perfect 45!
ACS Doha Pass rate increased to 100% and highest score increased to 41
