So that students can move and play safely, there may be limits on the kinds of physical activity allowed and some changes to our athletic programmes for a while. But ACS schools have a dedicated team of athletic directors, PE and sport professionals, facilities managers and coaches who are working together to ensure that students remain excited, engaged, and challenged on the court and in the field. This year may involve less travel…so we will develop virtual tournaments and explore more local competitions when conditions allow. Adjusting seasons and making the most of our excellent facilities, we will move the goalposts together to seize this golden opportunity to improve physical education, school sports, and physical activity (PESSPA) for all students including our competitive athletes and winning teams who will be able to benefit from increased attention to strength and conditioning, basic skills and innovative practice plans.
For many students, this may be the year to branch out and try something new. eSports and augmented reality competitions offer exciting new possibilities in competitive activity.
At every point, ACS practice will be guided by professional organisations and governing bodies for sport as they develop roadmaps for return. Our PESSPA teams work closely with international athletic associations for international schools, as well as:
We closely follow Government guidance on athletic facilities and decontamination procedures.
